procedure

An initial meeting is required at which the artist will discuss your requirements in more detail as well as take photographs and sketch the sitter. It is common at this point to discuss other items that could appear in the final work which may have a particular meaning for the sitter. (The duration of this meeting is variable to suit your time availability.)

From this the artist will prepare possible composition proposals in the form of computer mock-ups and/or sketches. In addition, the artist will confirm prices for the various options. There is no commitment to the commission before sight and approval of a compositional sketch.

On approval of the composition a deposit of one third of the final price is required prior to commencement. The balance is payable on completion.

Each commission is a unique work of art. All pricing is therefore bespoke and subject to the complexity of the composition and the size, however the following examples, showing some of the contributing factors, can be used as a guide. Portrait commissions start at £350 for people and £250 for animals.

Prices exclude framing, travel and delivery costs if applicable.

Time scales are indicative only, from the date of approval of the composition. They will depend on other commitments and the timing of additional sittings if required.
